Abstract

Transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) facilitates the evaluation of valvular repari in operating room. We report a case of patient with mitral valve prolapse (MVP). The diagnosis is established by transthoracal echocardiography (TTE). The
posterior
mitral valve leaflet showed billowing appearance during the ventricular systole. This billowing MVP developed into a flail MVP as a result of chordae rupture. The functional valvular morphology and degree of mitral valvular regurgitation was
assessed
with TEE pre-and intraoperatively.
